Firefighter Saves Dog With 'Mouth-To-Snout' Resuscitation

SALEM, Mass. -- A little dog owes its life to a firefighter who was willing to give it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The 12-pound terrier crossbreed named Pixie wasn't breathing Tuesday when firefighters pulled her from a burning home in Salem, Massachusetts. One firefighter, Richard LeBlanc, put his mouth over the dog's mouth in an attempt to revive her. Then another firefighter gave her oxygen. Now, Pixie's doing OK. A vet said she's looking good and breathing comfortably, and should make a full recovery. Salem Fire Captain Alan Dionne says firefighters always try to save lives -- "and that means every life." No humans were hurt in the fire.
