MY PET HAS EATEN THE RECALLED FOOD

NOW WHAT?

If you suspect you have fed your pet tainted food:

Immediatly stop feeding the suspect food

Bag what's left and stick in freezer

Save unopened cans and receipts

Keep any pet food pouches or cans with the recall-specific dates and UPC codes on them, but in a place where they can't be mistakenly fed to pets

We recommend blood work  and a urinalysis to assess your pets' kidney function

Keep all receipts from your Veterinarian

Call the FDA to report your information
include as much information as possible, including the specific product name, lot numbers for the pet food fed to your dog or cat when it was ill, date illness first noticed, signs displayed, veterinarian's report and diagnosis, the name, address, and telephone number of attending veterinarian, etc.

File a complaint online with the FDA sorry, link has been removed from the FDA website. Instead, contact an FDA complaint coordinator

Ask your Veterinarian to report any suspected death or illness to your state veterinarian

File a complaint with the retailer from whom the food was purchased

File a complaint with the company that produces the food

Search the FDA recall list

Call Menu Foods and file a complaint with them. The consumer recall hotline numbers for Menu Foods are: 1-866-463-6738 or 1-866-895-2708

Contact a state complaint coordinator. In Florida call: (866) 337-6272

Keep a log of anyone you talked to: names, dates, times, outcome etc.

If your pet was euthanized due to the severity of the condition, have your veterinarian save tissue samples (kidney, liver or any suspect tissue)
