Gibson. The world's tallest dog.
A 3-year-old Great Dane in Sacramento, Calif., has been named the world's tallest dog by Guinness Book of World Records. Gibson stands 7 feet tall when upright.
The world's smallest cat, Mr. Peebles.
The 2-year-old cat, named Mr. Peebles, is officially listed as the smallest living domestic cat by the Guinness Book of World Records. He weighs 3 lbs. Mr. Peebles lives in the Good Shepherd Veterinary Clinic in Pekin. The clinic's employees serve as collective co-owners.
The world's ugliest dog, a Chinese Crested.
Sam, a 14-year-old pedigreed Chinese crested, won the World's Ugliest Dog contest for the third time in June.
A Whale of a tail in London.
A whale swam up the River Thames past Parliament and Big Ben in central London on Friday, then beached itself. The whale was a Northern bottlenose, said Richard Sabian, a zoologist at the Natural History Museum in London.
Britain's Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says the lost whale in London's River Thames died during a rescue attempt.
New Dog
